The Martial Arts - an overview of the fighting arts

Many people have found great and profound pieces of inspiration, advice and insights from stories, books, quotes, films, pictures, posters, art installations, music and dance - just to mention a few possible sources.

Martial arts is a possible source, both to knowledge (insight) and motivation. But we also need spiritual and mental fuel (along with proper physical fuel) to stay on the "Warrior Path". As it is said by Morpeus in "The Matrix": "There's a difference between knowing the path and walking the path." Now there's a great movie for you!

Sometimes the training and studying part of martial arts isn't quite enough in itself, and we need to reach elsewhere to be able to continue walking down that path. Elsewhere may imply reaching within ourselves or to outside sources - often times these two are tightly connected, and hard to separate. We do not always know what comes from our own thoughts and emotions, or through the sensory system.

What is it that touches your heart?:

What exactly it is that moves and inspires you I do not know. How can I - sometimes it is a little unclear even for myself what inspires me... It can be something that has to do with martial arts, other times something completely different - like a child playing, or a poem, or a picture, or a sports event. It can be a book - any book - that can be on anything but the arts, or naturally be about the arts. Many times it is a mental image, or the voice of someone dear to me.

Below you will find links to matters that may be of interest to you - inspirational quotes and sayings - inspirational martial arts stories - successful self-defense by women, same for men and children, motivational and inspirational posters, pictures, books and more. Do take your time and look around! More stuff will be added continuously. If you have something you wish to see here, something that has helped you and may help others, I will appreciate it greatly if you give me a note! There is so much great stuff, and way beyond the reach of any man to know it all!

Here's to your Martial Arts "Walkathon"! Remember: Just keep walking, and you will get there!
