The Martial Arts - an overview of the fighting arts

Why interviews?:

Sure enough - most people can speak or write. But have they all got something of substance to tell us? On this page I will be talking with people within the Martial Arts and self-defense "camp" - people that I know, or that I feel, have something worthwhile to say. My job will be to bring that out. If the story don't deliver as promised, don't blame the person giving th story, in stead you can point your finger at yours truly, the one asking the wrong kind of questions. Feel free to booo if you feel like it :-)

Over the course of (hopefully) many years you will find tales of people with a history, people who have made a difference. You will meet persons who have inspired others or who has been inspired by others. You will find the famous and the not so famous, the mighty ones and the "ordinary" ones - the fighters and the teachers, the doers and the thinkers.

Let me also state right up front that Martial Arts for me is something else than budo. In that sense you will find people on these pages that are not M.A people in the strictest and most narrow sense of the word according to some. Personally I don't like those limiting definitions. Wrestling, boxing, kickboxsing, fencing, armed combat, modern self-defense systems, army combat, verbal self-defense, conflict management systems, old native combative systems, and so on ad infinitum - it is all Martial Art to me! Not budo, mind you, but Martial Art.

My aim is to let these people talk about what is on their mind, and to speak about the road that they have travelled and will travel. Within a couple of weeks you will hopefully see the first interviews appear. And please... If you have someone you'd love to see or hear from, do give me a hint - contact me!

From this page you can click your way to each and every person being interviewed. Let us go and find out what they have to say!

OK, my fellow budo-brothers and -sisters. The second one has been added. It is with a renowned author, Perry William Kelly. He talks about his training, as well as his new book on legendary kickboxer Jean-Yves Theriault. Click here to read the most recent of our interviews.
