Woman, 81 years old:

From: Verdens Gang
(
August 30, 2003):

This elderly woman awakens when a man breaks into her bathroom in Fredrikstad (a town South-East of Oslo), landing in her bathtub with a bang. It was 1.30 AM and the woman asked the burglar in no uncertain terms what on earth he was up to.

The burglar answered that he was hungry, whereupon the woman made him something to eat! They spent two full hours talking together. Before sending the man on his way, granny was sure to notice the burglars build and height, together with the name and age she had gotten from him.

Based on these observations the police could arrest the man, a known criminal. According to the woman it was probaly fear that kept her calm and controlled.

Woman, 80 years old:

From: Verdens Gang
(
August 31, 2003):

Walking through a park in another town South-East of Oslo, a man tried to snatch the bag from this elderly lady.

She simply leaned on her walking aid and knocked the guy flat out with a right fist to the face, smashing his head onto the pavement. Afterwards she describes not being afraid at all, only angry.

After the insident she had a couple of bruised fingers form the blow, but was able to give the police a good description of the robber.

Woman, 19 years old:

From: Verdens Gang
(
June 21, 2001):

This 19 year old woman was pulled into a car and abducted by her 25 year old ex-boyfriend. This happened close to Moss, south-east of Oslo, Norway. Prior to the abduction the abduction the man had been given a restraining order.

A witness saw the incident, immediately alarming the police. A police patrol car caught up with the abductor and took up pursuit.

The man sped up, but had to slow down after a while when they met some crossing traffic. As the car was slowing down and running at proximately 40 km per hour, the woman threw herself out of the car, escaping with some bruises and possible fractures. The kidnapper was then stopped just seconds after the woman had escaped, by police vehicles ramming the side of the car.

About:

Women's self-defence, strength, motivation, inspiration

Woman, age unknown:

From: Unknown origin
(Date unknown
):

This woman was one of the founders of Chimera (a women's self-defense organization in Chicago). She was on a crowded, rush-hour bus, when she felt a hand on her breast, and it wasn't her hand.

She grabbed the hand by the wrist and, not letting go of the now wriggling hand, shouted as she simultaneously thrust the hand into the air:

"Look what I found on my breast! Did anyone lose a hand?" The perpetrator flew off the bus at the next possible stop.

Girl, 13 years old:

From: Dagbladet
(
September 24, 2003):

This incident occurred in the Northern part of Oslo, Norway. The girl was on her way home from school, when she noticed a man walking towards her on a part of the track where it was passing through some woods. In the same area of the city, there had been committed two rapes on young girls over a two-year period.

The man grabbed her and tried to pull the girl away from the track, obviously heading towards the woods. According to a statement form the police, the girl resisted the man and managed to break free.

Girl, 14 years old:

From: Unknown origin
(Date unknown
):

This 14 year-old girl was in New York City on her own, far away from safe, rural Connecticut.

A man sitting in a car parked by the curb called out to her, got her attention by gesturing with a road map. Wanting to be helpful and assuming that he needed directions, she went to the car.

When she came up to the car and stuck her head into the car to look at the map, he pulled the map away. He was masturbating.

"What do you think of that?" he asked. She briefly glanced at his penis, looked him in the eye and said, "I've seen better," and walked away.
